Batch sparging Empty

I set one of those heavy foil disposable roasting pans with numerous holes poked through atop my MT. When I Vorlauf or sparge the grain bed is not disturbed, so it is kind of a modified fly method.
Here is a link to a batch sparge Guru

I am a firm believer of the K.I.S.S. method (Keep It Simple Stupid)

Batch sparging Empty

i have seen both and tasted from both and i can't tell the difference, i think it comes down to preference. i do think it is less expensive, and maybe even a bit less hassle for batch sparging. but once you have a set up likw yours all you would need is a pump and fly sparging would be a great operation, i honestly don't know if you need a round cooler for fly sparging or not as long as your water level is high enough to not hit your grain bed i don't think you would. i think fly sparging allows for a smoother transfer, and an over all cooler look, if that matters. (i kind of think it does)

I have done nothing but batch sparge since I have gone AG, so I cannot comment on other methods. What I can say is, that batch sparging is simple and effective.

I've also got a sparge arm that I bought and never used. It's the fermentap one if I remember correctly. You are welcome to try it out and see if it fits your needs.

This may help you consider your sparging options, which lays out the advantages and disadvantages of each technique:

In my person opinion, once you get fly sparging down, you can't beat it. It's the way the big brewers do it and with a little ingenuity, you can make a pretty cheap setup at home that will help you do it effectively. If that's not incentive enough, it really is the most efficient method available (that I've tried).
