Fermenting Empty
PostSubject: Re: Fermenting    Fermenting EmptyTue Jul 24, 2012 1:45 pm

You have a couple options. The first, is you can add a clean-fermenting yeast to help lower the gravity to where it ought to be. This won't be the easiest thing, though, because you'll have to keep a close eye on the gravity to make sure you don't dry it out too much. At that point, you can either package it or put it into tertiary.

The other option is, if you don't mind waiting, is making a lower gravity porter to blend it with, to make two batches of beer with a balanced FG. Of course, that will take even more time and probably be more of a pain. The first option may be your best bet, but it's up to you.

I have a porter in the fermentor.
It has a og of 1.079. And I took a reading and it has a fg of 1.030 so I wasn't thing and
I put in the secondary fermentor. Is that ok? or should add yeast and see if it will drop more.
Beer shith tells me it should be at 1.013 or 15 i think. And with a of 8 to9% abv
Let me know. Cheers...
