Meeting Reminder: 1/4/11

ok guys and gals. none of those beers where properly carbed. they are all holding a nice head now. stop in and try them. i still need to add some Hop aroma, but the bitterness is great to me. next split batch i will test another yeast, and try dry hopping. should be a great test. i think this recipe is very close.

Wow i had a great time at the meeting, a few new faces; we almost hit standing room only! nice to see both freezers fit. Conversation was outstanding. I really do hope you guys look into trying split batches for yourselves, maybe someone is willing to try a side by side comparison of pitch rates. Like one with a starter matching suggested pitch rates and one with just a smack pak?

i first want to thank all of you who tried my pale ales and gave me your input! i can not thank you enough. i was very surprised when i got home and read the list. i don't think anyone got the correct order for all of them. i am glad i couldn't remember it would not have been as much fun. Ok, here are the beers you drank, (sorry B & D were not properly carbonated)

A - 1056 with a 10 whirlpool addition
B- 1056
C- 1272 with a 10 whirlpool addition
D - 1272

i had 3 votes for A, and approximately 8 for C. Only 3 people said it was good as is. Most including myself agreed they need more hops to fit into the style and or what we expect to get from a pale ale. Again thank you guys for all the input by the way i had 2 suggestions so i for see another split batch in my future!

We're kicking off the new year with a meeting tonight in the Club Room. Be sure to join us at 7pm if you can!

With a little luck and some beer bartered muscle the Mashers have a new large freezer. We figure between the two we have now, one can be made into a kegerator and the other a lagerator. Perfect for the homebrewhaus. The freezer needs to be cleaned and moved before the meeting tonight. So if you can swing by a little early to help out with that, we'd really appreciate it.

We'll be discussing upcoming events and brews for 2011. Other than that, bring some brews for a fun time. If you happen to have a photo of you brewing bring it with. The brew board is looking a little bare
