Meeting Recap: 3/7/13

Beers

Several new brews made their way to the tasting. Ivan brought his Cream Ale and Pale Ale. Chuck brought his IPA and Oatmeal Stout. Adam had his Oatmeal Stout on tap for us. Jayme brought his new Bitter. Last but not least, Lance brought his first brew a Wheat, and a Brown Ale, and Honey Ale.


Business

New Brewery
A big congratulations to Masher Ted and the opening of Buffalo Commons Brewing Company!

St. Patrick's Day/b]
St Patrick's Day gathering will be March 16th at 1pm at the Philleo house.

[b]Brew Barrel
We've had a lot of great feedback on the club barrel. We are currently getting quotes from vendors. We will have one for the club to use soon.

Big Brew Day
Big Brew Day is planned for May 4th, 1pm. Main Street Liquor in Mandan has offered to host the event. We will be brewing in the east side of the parking lot. We need a big showing for this event so start planning your brew!

BYO Magazine
It's time again to renew your BYO subscription or if you're not a subscriber start one. BYO is a great publication for homebrewers, just ask around. Each year we collect a minimum of 10 signatures for a discounted rate. We need those 10 subscriptions/renewals to qualify for the magazine. If you want to sign up, please fill out the BYO Subscription Form.


Paddle
The first vote for paddle winner tied with Chuck's Oatmeal Stout and Lance's Honey. After a vote-off, Lance took home the paddle. Congrats Lance! Make sure to take a picture with the paddle.



This traveling trophy will be awarded monthly for the winner to take home and proudly display. At the end of each meeting we will look for nominations on outstanding homebrew of the night. This beer can be a new brew or a reworked recipe. Once a beer has taken home the paddle, it will no longer be eligible to win. When nominating a brew, look at flavor, style, and originality. A majority vote will declare the winner. If you win the paddle, make sure that you can have it back to an officer at the next meeting.

If I forgot anyone or any beers, feel free to post it. Sometimes as the beer flows, the notes get sloppier and I get more forgetful. Cheers!
