ok, i have to say the deal on corn sugar is crazy. if you have not bought it you have lost it, 5 lb for 6 bucks really! if you are brewing at all (and bottling) this is a good deal!

My mistake: I was using 24.99 instead of 23.99 for the cost of the 5 lb container.

Here is the simple formula: 23.99 /5 = 4.798
4.798 / 6.25 (normal cost per pound) = .767 or 76.7% of the normal cost.

I guess I always did like math and figuring this stuff out. Thanks again Jeff.

no mike you have to take the 31.25 times a percentage to get the actuall discount...as 31.25 would be the normal cost and then to get the discount of the orginal price you have to then paly with percentages to get he actual discounted price to get the final discount....its 23percent...

Actually you can use a lot simpler math than that:

24.99 / 4 = 6.25 cost per lb normal price
6.25 x 5 = 31.25 would be cost per 5 lb container
24.99 / 31.25 = .799 or .80 equal to 80% of the cost per lb at normal price
Thus a savings of 20%

24.99/4 = 6.25
6.25 x 10 = 62.50
43.99/62.50 = .703 or .70 equal to 70% of the cost per lb at normal price
Thus a savings of 30%

I'd be curious how you got 23%. And you must show your work

well looks like i'll have to give mike and mattwhich each and ounce...mike was right withthe 10# but wrong on his first of 20 which matt was right with 23......the formula is 24.99 divided by 4 times 5 then times the percentage then minus and equals to get closet to the final cost...thats for the 5 pounds of pbw....Jeff
