Blues & Brews festival, June 2nd

Mark Versen from the DSU Alumni Foundation sent us some more info on entering brews for Blues and Brews. The deadline to confirm your brew entry is in April, though he's pretty flexible on that. The earlier the better so they can promote the varieties of coarse. There are prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the homebrew People's Choice competition. $350 to 1st, $100, to 2nd and $50 to third. They are also exploring the option of a greyhound bus from Bismarck to Dickinson, if enough people are interested in attending.

Yes... we would like you to be there to serve and/or win. Special circumstances may be made, but I hope to avoid this. We will take kegs or bottles, or however you want to dispense your beer.

Yes, you will need to bring your own equipment to serve the beer. No cost to enter the competition. Tickets are $30 for the event for those not bringing a beer.

Forgot about the Hopluck date. That would be great if we could reschedule that, and take a good representation of Muddy River Mashers!

Sounds like fun! If enough folks are interested in going, we might have to move the ol' Hopluck date (as it was set for June 2nd too).

What does it cost to enter? Is it keg only entries? Do you need to bring your own CO2 and lines? If you enter a beer, do you have to be there to serve or win?

Just putting the word out. I am on the Blues and Brews committee again this year for the 2nd annual event. We are looking at 250 tickets to be sold, live music, and food.

The committee is considering renting a bus to hall brewers and interested participants from Bismarck to Dickinson for the event. Would anybody be interested in hopping on the bus?

We are also looking for around 20 homebrew donations of 5 gallons. There will be a cash prize this year as well, upwards of $500 -$1000 to the people's choice winner, 2nd and 3rd place.

So the gist of it is, let me know if you are interested in attending, brewing, traveling on a bus, etc... There will also be other commercial breweries there as well. Last year Beaver Creek and Red Lodge Ales made it. This year I expect it to be expanded from that.
