any interesting beers? Jeef i guess wasn't feeling well, but i left a beer for the club in the kegerator, called EVIL. he thought it was ok, i didn't but, you have to like oak aged, to like this beer.

Went well! I'll have the recipe/guidelines posted tonight for more discussion. We're looking at a Baltic Porter and a Czech Pilsner.

how did the meeting go? any good beers? porter and a pilsner?

If the Club would like to brew their choice of brew and raffle or auction it off for the same charity it was won from,I,d like to donate it.I most likely will not make it there for awhile unless I hit the lotto or somethin.

Just an FYI, James from Williston, the winner of the second batch of brew we will be doing, wont be able to attend so he gave us clearance to brew whatever we like. Of coarse we'd like to send James some bottles of whatever we brew. Either way, this means we can develop 2 recipes for 'Learn to Homebrew Day'.

I'm going to forget the recipe by tonight so I'll just post it here.

Assuming 70% efficiency

Grains mashed at 150º:

Munich 10º 10.5#
Pilsner 7#
Crystal 40º 8 oz
Special B 8 oz
Chocolate 4 oz
Carafa Special II 4 oz


Kettle Hops:

Warrior 0.5 oz 70mins
Saaz 1 oz 15mins


Wyeast 2206 Bavarian Lager yeast fermented at 52º

i can not make it, for about 3 reasons, but to start parent teacher conferences.

my suggestion would be to use maris otter as your base malt to add a nice rich nutty base. but that is just my suggestion, most of my favorite poters use this malt as there base malt for the style.

as for the sign, "masher approved" is about the only thing i have been able to come up with!

I won't be there tonight either... but it does sound like a great meeting!

Ah, shucks. If you want to post any suggestions on the clubs porter recipe, you can post them here and I'll bring them to the meeting.

Sadly I am working tonight so I won't be able to attend , but I DO plan on being there on Sat!

Tomorrow night is going to be great fun! We'll be developing the recipes to be used at this Saturdays National Learn to Homebrew Day. So be sure to bring your recipe ideas for the club porter.

We've been slowly adding some decor to our great new meeting room at Wheels Wings N Hobbies. If you have any furnishings or decor you'd like to utilize in the room please bring it up at the meeting or if its small, bring it with!

The last item to think about before tomorrow is regarding the 'Beer Store Award' we discussed last meeting. The award would be given to Stores in our area that the Mashers felt served or supplied quality beers. We are in need of a name for this award. From there we can work out the signage.
